While court interpreters possess relevant expertise in certain areas, actually rendering an expert opinion as a witness poses ethical challenges. This session will explore different situations in which an interpreter might be asked to render an expert opinion while discussing the ethical challenges involved, including scope of practice, conflict of interest, and why certain expert work may or may not be appropriate.​​
